Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco - a Canadian and American artist and singer. Over 20 albums have been made available by her. DiFranco categorizes her music as folk-rock and alternative. However, it contains influences such as punk, hip-hop and jazz. The widely regarded feminist icon Grammy winner Ani DiFranco is considered to be the father of the DIY movement, and was among the first artists to create her own record label in 1990. DiFranco's parents, Elizabeth (Ross), a previous student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dante Americo DiFranco met each one another while students at the same school. Both her parents were both of Montreal origin. Her song 32 Flavors, was composed by her and sung by Ani. The song was featured on her 5th studio album Not a Pretty Girl which was released in the year 1995. A version of the song can be heard on the film Canadian romantic movie Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco apologized for holding a conference in Louisiana in an old slave plantation. The event was later cancelled but she didn't show any regret. DiFranco offered a second apology a few days afterwards. Her name is associated with her Little Folksinger music, but she's collaborated with many artists and genres that range from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. She is from New Orleans. Ani as well as Kristen Ford. At the age of 14, she began creating her own music. They were performed in bars and in coffee shops all through her teens. DiFranco began taking courses in Buffalo State College at age 16, after she graduated from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts.
